providence: divine guidance or care
I am a firm believer in providence, and in the midst of chaotic situations, providence is confirmed in my life by an inexplicable peace. The last two days, I have again reacquainted myself with the peace of providence.
Last week I felt such an urging to get my menu, groceries and meals in order for the [...]

Practicing contentment by remembering the graces of the week and practicing gratitude by giving.
This week was week 2 of HandyMan’s staycation. It brought more progress on our garden shed with the help of friends. A day of rain brought some extra time for me to work on inside projects.
GBaby and I were treated to a [...]

In the last week, there have been a number of free – or cheap- summer activities that have come across my radar. I thought I’d throw a few out there to get your minds churning on ways to keep your family occupied during the free time of summer!
*Community Pools: We discovered our local community pool [...]

This has been a crazy full week and my absence of posts is more proof of that! I use this space to process a lot of my activities around the house, kitchen and yard. Not much time to process this week. I’ve been on autopilot making candles to replenish inventory after some great sales at [...]

One of the first recipes I found that used infant cereal was for a molasses cookie. GBaby loves them and since we’ve been feeding her these “cookies” one of her first words is – you guessed it – ‘ca-kee’!
Iron Filled Molasses Cookies
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup butter
1 egg
1/4 cup frozen Orange Juice Concentrate, thawed
3/4 cup flour [...]

Earlier this year after one of GBaby’s well-visits we were told that she had a minor iron deficiency. “No big deal-LOTS of kids have iron deficiencies” the doctor said. She continued “There’s a supplement you can give her, its brown and gooey and really nasty.” Yeah! Sign us up for that! I did some really [...]

I’ve always shared the time surrounding my birthday since my Dad’s birthday falls two days prior. What I remember most about birthdays growing up, was the rule was that you couldn’t talk about your birthday until the family member’s birthday before you had passed. I think they made that one up just to bug me! [...]

On Monday we celebrated HandyMan’s birthday, which actually falls today. Since his calendar was full for today, but yesterday was his day off – he elected to have his birthday a day early. Since GBaby’s too little to know – he can get away with that this year!
As is a tradition in our families growing [...]
